When you combine Volume with Intensity, this is one of the best one-two punches for your workouts.
Adding the right amount of intensity to your training can increase your caloric burn (both during and after exercise), can improve overall muscular endurance, increase metabolism, and more.
Let me give you a simple example of volume and intensity...
If you walked 100 steps on flat ground vs 100 steps up a hill, you’re going the same distance (volume) but you’re adding much more intensity with the hill.
The same is true for your workouts - by strategically pairing VOLUME & INTENSITY, you can start taking your results to the next level simply by making a few slight changes to your workouts...
Here’s even better news: when you combine Volume and Intensity, your workouts can remain short and super effective (around 30 minutes is plenty).
When it comes to "Workout Intensity", people often think that they need to do exercise until they can't go anymore. However...
This couldn't be further from the truth.
Intensity looks different for everyone and is very individualized!
That said, the right intensity in your workouts can unlock incredibly fast results...
Workout Intensity can be described as how hard your body is working during your workouts. And...
Depending on your fitness level, your goals, the exercises you're doing... This will determine the right intensity for YOUR body.
Using our hill walk example from before...
Walking up a hill will be harder for some people than others depending on fitness level, how fast you are walking, how steep the hill is, etc.
One thing I always tell my clients is this:
Intensity is more important than the length of your workouts!
