6 Tips For Staying Lean on Vacation

By Dennis Heenan August 16, 2018

“How can I stay fit while on vacation?”

“How do I avoid losing all my hard work?”

We get these types of questions all the time!

The main thing we want to get across is this first:

This is YOUR vacation! So, we want you to really enjoy it.

We also want to say that there is not a right and wrong way to do vacation. So, we want you to feel no extra pressure while vacationing!

It is important for you to figure out what you want your vacation to be!

It can be where you relax, not worry about working out, and more freedom with food.

We truly want you to figure out what will help to rejuvenate you and relax you—which is what vacation is all about!

We want you to enjoy it TO THE FULLEST!

Figure out your vacation style and then you can figure out how to stay focused and get and keep your results you have been working so hard for!

You will then plan accordingly! Or, don’t plan at all if you want to wing it!

We do want to give you some tips on how to stay lean on vacation and not backslide or lose all the results you have been working so hard for!

Here are 5 Quick Tips for you Today:

1) Just Move! There are tons of things you can do that are not technically “workouts” but can aid in helping you keep your results! Things like opting to walk rather than taking a taxi. It is also a great way to see a new city or area! You can choose a vacation where you do a lot of hiking! You could also plan to play volleyball at the beach!

2) Get in a Quick 5-20 Minute Body Weight Workout! This can be done first thing in the morning, or sometime within your day! It will get the blood flowing and get a quick sweat in!

3) Have a Game Plan, and Pick and Choose your Indulgences. The point of vacation is usually not to eat really strict. Whenever we travel around the world, we like to try the foods of that country! So, we make sure to not put any pressure to eat perfectly. But, we also always have a game plan for the day! A big piece of your game plan should be thinking about how long your trip is. If it is just a weekend away and you want to have a few flex days, then that is great! No need to feel any guilt! If you are gone for two weeks, then you may want to plan to eat well for breakfast and lunch, and then indulge a little bit more at dinner!

4) Carb Cycle! Our carb cycling programs are great because they are so flexible and do not ask you to ever count calories or macros.

Here are three different options for how you can loosely carb cycle while on vacation:
–Option A: Eat low carb for the day, and then at dinner you can eat the foods you want to eat and indulge!
-Option B: Have a lower carb day, then have a flex day, then have a lower carb day. If you know you are going to indulge a lot
-Option C: Moderation around the clock! This is a great person who doesn’t typically overindulge so you can just enjoy treats here and there! Keepig
-Option D: Eat whatever the heck you want the entire vacation! If you want to enjoy treats, then enjoy treats! This is your vacation, so do what you want!

5) Drink in Moderation. If you want to stay on track and more focused, then we would recommend keeping the drinks in moderation. Enjoy a drink or two. If you then want more, then we would recommend trying to switch to alcohol that is lower in sugar.

6) Intermittent Fasting. This has been a game-changer for us! We do IF + Carb Cycling regularly, but doing IF while traveling has helped us to sleep well, keep bloating away, stay energized, and still feel great and look great!

We cannot stress or emphasize it enough that we want you to figure out what you want your vacation to look like. No need to feel any guilt or shame over what you eat during your vacation.

You only get one life, so we want you to enjoy it! Figuring out the right balance for you is the best way to do it!

We hope this helps you out!
