Intuitive Eating

Humans eat to sustain life. It is an essential part of our life for survival and has become such a social thing too! We have done this for all time. But, there are so many beliefs on what is the best way to eat.

We have found that Intuitive Eating is a great method is and what we teach in all of our nutrition programs.

What exactly is Intuitive Eating?

Great question! We define intuitive eating as eating when you are hungry and until you are satisfied. It means listening to your hunger cues and following them! So, that means actually eating when your body tells you that it is hungry!

I think we can all agree that sounds like a great idea, but we realize it can take some practice listening to your body correctly.

There are so many benefits to following intuitive eating!

Here are just some.

1) It can give you freedom. Many people count macros when it comes to their nutrition. If that works for you, then that is awesome and you should continue doing it! But, we have found counting macros to be very restrictive and can cause a lot of mental issues with it, along with always feeling stressed.

With intuitive eating, you are truly listening to your body and fueling it with the nutrients that you are craving. We know firsthand that some days you are going to be more hungry! This may be due to a hard workout the day before or lack of sleep. We want you to recognize that, and then fuel your body with real, one-ingredient foods that will give your body the nutrients it both needs and is craving!

2) Learn your hunger cues! Learn when you are truly hungry and when you are dealing with stress or are dehydrated. So often we may think we are hungry, but in reality our body may be dehydrated. When you practice intuitive eating, you become more aware with what your body really needs. It may not need more food, but a large glass of water. It may need a nap, rather then emotional or stress eating!
