There was once a time in my life when all I thought about was food…
It consumed my every waking moment…
I counted every calorie.
I weighed everything down to the exact gram.
I had a strict list of “off limits” foods that I NEVER ate……Like, EVER…
I had guilt and anxiety around food, even the foods that I “labeled” as healthy…
I may have looked happy on the outside, but I was in a dark and miserable place…
Luckily, there’s a happy ending to this story 🙂
And after lots of hard work, unlearning my negative diet habits, and completely changing my approach to health, fitness, and nutrition…
I was able to turn my life around.
It’s now my mission to share my approach, one that is flexible and freeing, with as many people as possible…
You see, I haven’t “dieted” since 2009…
It was a day in November, when I decided with the help of Dennis and family, that enough was enough…
I got the help I needed, and through that was able to do a complete 180 with my life and health.
Over time, food and exercise no longer consumed my life…
Perhaps, you aren’t currently experiencing the same exact experience as I did when it comes to food and exercise…
But let me ask you…
Have you ever struggled with self image?
Have you ever been let down by diet, after diet, after diet promising the world, but leaving you even more frustrated and confused?
Maybe you’ve thought…
‘Honestly, just tell me…
WHAT do I eat to be healthy and fit?’
I get it. It’s hard!
Here’s my take…
A lot of people struggle with a root problem with their overall relationship with food.
Here’s my two cents…
Through this process of what I went through, I was able to make some big realizations about my newfound relationship with food.
Food is freeing, not imprisonment.
Food is nourishing and gives life, not a death sentence.
Food is empowering, not destructive.
Food is a fuel source and messenger for my body to help it run properly, not a deceitful liar who’s sole purpose is to make me feel bad about myself.
It took time and practice to unlearn the dieting mentality and bad habits that I had developed, but I was not only able to break them, I was able to shatter them.
I say all of this to encourage you.
The principles of creating a flexible, balanced lifestyle span across to create awareness in lots of areas of life.
No matter what you are experiencing in your health and fitness journey, whether it’s:
-lack of motivation or too much motivation…
-not knowing how to eat, or knowing too much and
overanalyzing everything you eat…
-not knowing the best workouts for your goals, or
needing to just find a better balance with exercise…
Wherever you are struggling and wherever you fall on the health and fitness spectrum, have hope of finding
balance.
Balance is not a singular destination to check off as accomplished…
It’s an ongoing friendship to be cared for and nurtured.
Figuring out how to eat for your overall health and also to achieve aesthetic goals can be challenging and overwhelming. However…
There are lots of ways you CAN achieve aesthetic goals, but in my own experience and through working with thousands of clients with diverse goals… A balanced, lifestyle approach helps bring the best mix of both:
1) overall health
AND…
2) aesthetic goals
In addition, a foundation of a healthy mental and emotional relationship with food is so important to be able to fully embrace that balanced lifestyle.
