The Mental Battle Of Nutrition

By Dennis Heenan June 28, 2018

There I was, staring into the refrigerator…

My mind racing…

“I can’t eat that, it’s not healthy.”

“That has way to much sugar.”

“If I eat that, it’s going to make me fat.”

“Maybe this? No, too many carbs.”

“This? Not a chance. Way to much fat!”

This daily mental battle with food was my reality.

There were days when it crippled me.

I jumped from diet to diet.

I religiously counted every single calorie I ate.

I weighed my food. Never going a gram over.

I was constantly hungry.

Restricted more foods than I can count.

Everything I ate, I felt as though it would make me fat…

This mental battle with dieting is very REAL.

So if you’re struggling with it, know that you are NOT alone…

Luckily, there is FREEDOM on the other side!

The reality is…

DIETING DOESN’T WORK.

Whaaaa? It’s true.

In today’s society, nutrition is so confusing.

  • Eat this, not that.
  • This is ‘clean,’ that’s ‘dirty.’
  • I can only have this tiny amount of donut, or rice, or chicken, or banana because it ‘fits my macros.’
  • This new fad diet is finally the ONE.

Your life does NOT and should NOT be run by food and dieting.

When it comes down to it, dieting DOES NOT WORK.

The whole concept of ‘going on a diet’ assumes that it is short term, and not something to be maintained.

(that’s why in our nutrition programs, we teach you how to eat for fast results AND long term success!)

The search for ‘finding what works’ doesn’t need to feel so stressful, because the truth is, it doesn’t have to be complicated.

In addition, food is not something to be feared.

Food is fuel. Food is community. Food is energy. Food is life. Food is essential and good.

This is why dieting doesn’t work.

It takes away the mind-body connection. It takes away your ability to enjoy the community that food brings.

Dieting makes you feel guilty for enjoying an essential and good aspect of life.

So… How should you eat to be healthy, feel good, and quite honestly, work towards the look you want?

It’s actually simple once you learn how to listen to your body and how certain foods make you feel.

The key is to learn a few basics of nutrition for how different foods fuel your body and then learn how to listen to what your body is needing.

I start to cover some of these things in my new Intuitive Eating Guide. And…

I’m giving it away on Saturday through the link in my bio @TheDailyKelsey on Instagram – to everyone who is following me there!

So, if you aren’t already, make sure you are following me there and turn on post notifications so you will be notified when it’s posted!

Listen, food can be fuel, fun, AND freedom.

It just takes a little practice.

And I’m here to show you how!

If you have any questions…

Reach out.

I’m here for you, as is our entire team!

If you’re ready to start your journey, I recommend starting here…

And be sure to follow me on Instagram so that you can get access to my new Intuitive Eating Guide!

-Kelsey
