Often when it comes to improving their skin, people tend to work from the outside in.

They buy the most expensive face washes and creams, which can absolutely help, but there are some simple things you can do to help improve your skin that will make a big difference long term and won’t break the bank.

Today, we are going to cover 5 steps that will help you improve your skin and make it more clear and vibrant from the inside out!

Unprocess Your Diet

When you eat whole, one-ingredient, unprocessed foods, you save your body from all of the additives and preservatives that hinder nutrient absorption.

Unprocessed foods are packed with nutrients that are essential and beneficial for healthier skin.

Fruits and veggies are really important for better skin. Eating a mix of types of fruits and veggies as well as varying between raw and cooked is a great way to ensure you’re getting a healthy mix of vitamins and minerals.

When you eat raw fruits and veggies, you will get more enzymes which help with digestion, energy production, detoxification, and nutrient absorption. Enzymes can also help with the turnover of old cells and the repair of new skins cells for a healthy glow.

If you don’t get enough enzymes it can dull your skin, decrease skin cell renewal, and slow your metabolism.

On the flip side, when you cook your produce, a lot of the enzymes are destroyed, but cooking can help make minerals more available for absorption, like lycopene – also known as “the beauty mineral.” For example, a cooked tomato is much more abundant in lycopene than a raw tomato.

Cooking can also make your veggies easier to digest with helps with nutrient absorption.

Some top greens for better skin are arugula, Swiss chard, and kale.

A fruit that’s rich in enzymes is pineapple and it’s great for reducing inflammation.

Foods like dark chocolate and avocados have been shown to help with protection against sun damage.

Food is powerful, and can help your skin from the inside, out.

Try Apple Cider Vinegar

ACV  helps kill pathogens which is bacteria that can help clear your skin, improve gut health, and provides anti-fungal properties.

Since ACV is fermented, it contains probiotics and enzymes which help aid in digestion and nutrient absorption.

ACV is known for it’s antibacterial properties which has been known to be effective against harmful bacteria which causes acne.

Making ACV a part of your daily routine can have great beauty benefits. We like to take a tablespoon of ACV and dilute it into shot with some water and a squeeze lemon or lime in the morning.

Stay Hydrated

Drink tons of water

This is a a simple one, but drinking enough water is essential to make sure your body is functioning properly. Your skin might be showing signs of dehydration if it is dry, itchy, and dull.

Carry a water bottle with you to ensure you are consistently getting water all day. The amount you need varies by your size and activity level, so in general, when you are thirsty, drink more water! Having a bottle with you is also just a good reminder to keep hydrated.

Moisturize morning and night

Also, make sure you are moisturizing your skin on the outside too! Moisturize your skin in the morning and before bed to help replenish moisture from the day. There are lots of moisturizers that contain Lycopene and Collagen, which we will talk about in a minute!

Exercise Regularly

When you workout, the increased bloodily helps nourish your skin cells and keep them vital to make skin look vibrant and healthy.

Stress can increase things like oily skin and acne and exercise also helps relieve stress to keep skin clear and fresh!

Of course, regular exercise is just important for overall health, but there are those direct benefits to the skin as well.

Take Collagen!

Collagen a protein in our bodies that is the glue that holds everything together.

Once you get into your late 20s and early 30s your body stops producing as MUCH collagen.

Collagen is the vital building block of our bodies including our hair, skin, nails, bones and joints. Our bodies can’t synthesize enough collagen on their own and most people’s diets today contain little collagen.

As you age, you will notice your skin gets looser, more wrinkles, you might get more aches and pains in your joints… Collagen helps improve all of that.

It’s good to supplement by adding collagen into your diet to help with skin elasticity, moisture, reduce stretch marks, and helps skin look more firm, tight and glowing.

It also helps with joint health, bone and tendon strength, increased athletic performance and deeper sleep.

The way I like to add collagen into my diet is through Vital Proteins. I use some sort of vital proteins collagen almost every day. I have a few favorites.

The plain Collagen Peptides are amazing because they are tasteless, so I add them into things like protein shakes, yogurt, oatmeal, and greens drinks.

The Dark Chocolate and Blackberry Collagen Peptides are delicious and I mix a scoop of this with hot water to make hot chocolate!

The Banana Cinnamon Vanilla Whey Protein is one of my favorite protein powders. It’s delicious in a protein shake and I love to mix a scoop into my plain greek yogurt!

What’s important about Vital Proteins collagen is the quality. There are no fillers, additives or preservatives, so you know you are getting 100% quality collagen to help improve your hair, skin, nails and joints!

Thanks for joining today! Enjoy these tips for getting healthier glowing skin!
