With the excessive parties and celebrations around the holidays, people are beginning to wonder, what is the best way for me to get back on track with my diet?
Should I try following a Low Carb Diet or try Carb Cycling?
With all the information out there, it is hard to get a clear answer on the best way to lose weight. We get asked all the time, what is better:
A Low Carb Diet or Carb Cycling? So today, we are going to compare the two! Let’s dive in…
Low Carb Diet:
A low carb diet consists of eating minimal carbohydrates and concentrating on eating proteins, vegetable, and healthy fats.
While on a Low-Carb Diet, the person’s body will initially use the stored carbohydrates for energy and then will go into burning fat, which in turn can cause weight loss.
This can cause quick weight loss, but often times leads to plateauing, low energy, and sensitivity to carbohydrates in the future—causing weight gain when consuming carbohydrates again.
Carb Cycling:
Carb Cycling consists of rotating between higher and lower carb days within a schedule to allow your body to effectively burn fat and build muscle.
On higher carb days, you will concentrate on eating protein, vegetables, and carbohydrates.
On low carb days, you will concentrate on eating protein, vegetables, and healthy fats.
High Carb days use carbohydrates for energy and fuel while aiding in muscle growth. Low Carb days utilize healthy fats for energy and allows your body to then in turn burn fat.
Carb Cycling allows your body to still get the needed carbohydrates to let your body perform at high levels while working out, providing plenty of energy, and also shred the unwanted fat!
Both the Low Carb Diet and Carb Cycling can be effective in weight loss, but it is important to also consider which one is better for you long term and which one is sustainable over time.
