We all have fallen prey to the “midday snack” attacks or the craving for fast food because of its convenience, rather than making a meal at home.
This is where meal prepping comes in clutch!
What is meal prepping?
Great question!
Meal prepping is simply setting aside some time to cook your proteins, prepare your veggies, carbs, and healthy fats, and then planning out some meals for the upcoming days or even week!
We usually find that meal prepping on Sunday afternoon works well for us. We go to the grocery store and buy all the food for the week and then set aside a few hours that afternoon to get our meals ready!
This really sets our week up for success!
We have found that the more we meal prep and have healthy snacks and meals on hand, ready to go, the more likely we are to eat healthy and stay on track towards our goals!
Our nutritional programs and overall philosophy when it comes to eating is:
ALWAYS EAT REAL, ONE-INGREDIENT FOODS!
This makes grocery shopping simple! We look for proteins, veggies, healthy fats, and complex carbs that are one-ingredients and then make our meals from there!
For proteins: We usually try to cook them first, as that can take some extra time. We like to bake our proteins, cook them on the stove top, or even on the barbecue!
For veggies: We like to cut them up, put them in a container, and then store them in the fridge so they are easy to add to a meal!
For complex carbs: With carbs like sweet potatoes or rice, we will cut up the sweet potatoes so all we have to do is cook or bake them right before we are going to eat them. With rice, we like to use a rice cooker to have them ready to go!
Overall, the more you prepare beforehand and do the work with meal prepping, the higher chance you will stay on track with your goals!
